One of the wonderful things about Florida is connected to its magnificent night life, where there is a world culture that’s currently under construction. New pieces of the puzzle get added every 24 hours, when guests from the luxury hotels Florida offers make their way to the dance floor. New musicians and djs work to define culture as it is, in order to make an impression on what it’s becoming.

This is part of what makes the state famous right now, and every present is built on a past. Some of the remnants of Florida’s past are connected to the Southern culture that is very much a part of the state. Sometimes this heritage gets lost in the urban shuffles, but when it works its way back to the surface, the connections between a dj in a nightclub and a storyteller at the base of a tree become rather clearly marked.

Stories of American Folklore can serve to represent the places in a metaphorical as well as geographical way. The tall tales and legends from Southern culture actually draw from a variety of sources, some from old Europe, some from parts of West Africa, and others that stem from indigenous tales right here. It is a kind of mixing, and perhaps it’s the first version of what people can hear in the clubs at night these days.

Atlanta is a place worthy of chronicling. Every city has its share of stories, and on some days, it seems as though everyone has not only a novel in them, but volumes to be written to narrate a life. There are details in every block that the city needs to remember, not only for its own sense of presence but for preservation in the future. But Atlanta is a particularly apt subject for writing, perhaps even more than any other art form. There’s something in the way that the written word suggests that these events that happened here are worth remembering.

And in Atlanta, it’s worth remembering the work of Boyd Lewis , who was NPR’s voice of the South, before he finally decided that teaching English full-time was more rewarding than chronicling the social scenes here. He moved with his wife Deborah, to Pasadena at the end of the 90s, but his stories are still here. That’s the splendid thing about literature. Guests who love the city as much as we do may be staying at an Atlanta USA hotel without knowing about the spectacular past, if it were not for the presence of these storytellers in our lives.

Deborah was in control of the <a href='http://likethedew.com/2009/10/02/a-seance-for-scarlett's-mom/'>Margaret Mitchell House for awhile, and was responsible for getting it non-profit status. It was kind of a happy coincidence that they both had an interest in her, as Boyd lived in her basement apartment for a time, and even tells a pretty wonderful story about it. He’d pursued professionals to make a seance to get in touch with her spirit, as he felt it pretty keenly, and the results of the event were hilarious, as they always were, and his observations about the people show the locals as interesting and quirky, as we always are.

Margaret Mitchell might come across as a rather staid and stately woman, but her personal life reveals a rather colorful, and passionate, soul. High school students and the rest of California are lucky to have him there, and he’s missed out here.

Travelers visiting Tampa in early March ran into an unexpected problem. Which was not a problem at all in the eyes of the owners of Tampa luxury hotels . Many hotels, particularly those in the Westshore Business District and downtown districts, had to put up “no vacancy” signs and turn away customers. This comes at a critical time for Tampa’s tourism as previous years have had a lull thanks to the economic crash a few years back. After this Spring’s boom in tourism one can only imagine how positive the summer outlook is for tourism in Tampa.

Vehicles clogged damp streets and highways that Friday afternoon as hotel lobbies filled with travelers in search of a room for the weekend. Those in search of rooms were expected to find them farther from the center of town. Hotels as far out as Rocky Point even reported full occupancy and turning away customers.

Many things attributed to the sudden tourism boom Tampa experienced. These events ranged from jazz singer Michael Buble’s concert Saturday night at the St. Pete Times Forum to the 35th annual scientific meeting of the Society of Interventional Radiology on March 13th through 18th. Not to mention the fact Spring Break was in high gear or the fact there were Major League Baseball’s spring training games and other athletic events.

Buble’s currently celebrating his American CD release of his album “Crazy Love” with his Crazy Love tour. His performance was virtually sold out with Roughly 100 of the 15,000 seats for his concert left empty on Friday afternoon. A Canadian singer-songwriter and actor, Buble’s has won several awards, including multiple Juno Awards and two Grammy Awards. His songs have a upbeat and romantic feel that’s unique to his style I’m fairly certain those seats were only empty because the doors closed before that last hundred fans could get checked into a hotel.

It’s been hard to talk about, because I get a little emotional, and I don’t always like to let people know my feelings. I like to think that my feelings are better kept to myself, where I can sort of look them over and decide how I’m going to dress them up. When I really get dressed up, however, I like to check out www.bestrestaurantsmanhattan.com to see where the hottest places are to eat, because let’s face it, if I’m going to go to the trouble to tuck things in, it better be somewhere special. But feeling, that’s a whole different issue, and I have issues with the issue, so I guess I am conflicted about this.

The truth of the matter is that Bruce Springsteen stepped on my girlfriend. In reality, she doesn’t care, and didn’t at the time. She told me that she thought it was just an accident. That she was walking in one direction and he was walking another, and they kind of were in front of each other, and doing that weird dance that people do when their bodies are trying to continue to move, but their heads tell them that there is a large person in front of you. She was rather tall, but he was rather wide, wider than her, anyway, and if I remember correctly, he was wearing really big boots.

They may have been the engineer boots with the strap, or the ones with the harness, I’m not sure. But I know he nailed her foot with his heel, although she said he barely grazed her shoe. This moment reminded me that life is just not fair. Years later, much longer than our relationship ever lasted, I still wonder if he didn’t get between us to break us up. She said that the was the only time she’d been close to him, and had not even listened to his music, ever. But I know the truth. I listen to the songs, and I know that when he sings about Mary on the porch, he’s singing about her. And the barefoot girl sitting on the car is also her, because I imagine in his dreams he wishes she weren’t wearing shoes so he could step on her feet and get in the way of our love just because he can.

One of the most popular seasonal events to attend occurs every year in the month of December throughout many, if not most of the cities across the nation. In fact attending a production of this particular show at least once on a person’s lifetime is almost considered mandatory and it is extremely common for it to be an annual ritual for many people and families. The production being described is, of course, Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. This production remains one of the most loved and produced of the Swiftrank category ballets in the world.

The fairy tale ballet is also one of the most famous in the world and it takes place in two acts. It is acknowledged as being composed between the years of 1891 and 1892. The ballet was commissioned by Ivan Vsevolozhsky, the Director of the Imperial Theatres. The story was adapted by Alexandre Dumas and was based on the original tale of The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by E.T.A. Hoffman. Hoffman’s original story was a great deal more elaborate than the economized version for the ballet, which is often the case when adapting already existing works to other genres, such as dramatic works for the opera or ballet, even musical theatre in the contemporary world.

Tchaikovsky’s original musical composition was a suite intended for concert and it was an immediate success. The entire ballet as is now performed did not reach its state of popularity and annual tradition until sometime in the 1950s. One of the most popular musical pieces from the ballet is the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, which is also one of the most famous uses of the musical instrument known as the celesta. Some of the more recognized characters from the ballet are the Mouse king, the Nutcracker, the Harlequin and of course Clara and Fritz, to name but a few.
