There are a lot of dynamics to consider when developing a children’s show or program. There are some standard differences between children’s and adult programming that goes far beyond subject matter and dialogue structure. For instance, children need a lot more stimuli in the scenes, as well as constant action. And children are much more inclined to accept the reality of non-human characters. You can bet they will not sit still long for an extended, slow paced, dinner conversation of a somber nature. Even if that same conversation occurs between a squirrel and a coyote.

For instance, how many of the main characters on any great children’s program are human? Typically less than fifty percent of them are human. And interestingly, all of the characters have strong personalities and human characteristics, though they tend to be animals of a different species. Even a sea sponge can be an empathetic and attractive character for children, not to mention adults.

Creating a great show for children is distinct from adult programming in a lot of ways, and in addition to the ones mentioned above they typically have some type of musical aspect woven into the story or program content. They are much faster paced and have a lot of visual dynamics, though the story line is much simpler and basic. In addition, children’s programming typically has an obvious educational element to it. These are some of the basic differences, and it’s important to note that children love their programs and characters as much as or even more so than adults.

Walking into someone’s home, one of the first things that you will most likely notice is the tone that the design sets; whether the room is fancy and sophisticated, warm and welcoming, or simple and natural. Each design element plays an essential part in setting the tone of the room; from the furniture and paint color to the decorative accessories. Ironically enough, one aspect of room design that often goes unnoticed is the window treatments. While it may seem easier to simply hang some plain vertical blinds, you can complete and enhance your rooms design with something more filing.
If vertical or horizontal blinds are your preference, there is a lot you can do to dress them up and give them a unique style. Many home goods stores carry a variety of curtains and drapes in many different colors and styles. With the assortment of curtains and curtain rods there is no limit to the styles and looks that can be created. If curtains are not your thing, consider a cornice. A single piece of carefully carved wood, a cornice can add style while maintaining simplicity.
For a natural look, there are many wooden blind and shutter options. With many color and material choices, blinds and shutters are ideal for many different design styles. Shutters are ideal for creating a warm yet classic look without all the extra fuss of curtains. To see a sample of the many different styles that are available stop in at any one of the numerous Next Day Blinds locations across the east coast.
Whatever your style, be it classical or modern, there are window treatments to fit. The next time you are decorating, or redecorating, your home do not forget to complete the design and add decoration to the windows.
