Maps are a Great Decorative Tool

Maps are very beautiful pieces of art, they seem to tell a story and reveal a piece of history all at the same time. They act as a historical piece as well as a fantastic decorative work. Many people like to use maps as a way to decorate because they offer so much more than a typical painting or picture.

As a decorative piece, a map is eye catching and interesting. It is very possible to stare at a world map for hours and not get bored. It also seems to be different every time you look at it; you are always realizing something new. They also make a great conversation starter as well. A radius map can quickly spark a conversation about a trip or maybe a place you would like to visit.

Maps also add a dimension of color to the room without overpowering the furniture. They are interesting and they are also educational. Many people like to put up maps in their children’s play rooms to be educational and fun.

Maps can also be drawn or represented in many different ways, shapes and forms. Old, antique maps have all types of pictures around the framing and use more muted colors. In many of today’s maps, the colors are brighter and the print on them is typed. There are also globes which are a spherical representation of the Earth and there are artistic interpretations of a map as well.

No matter how you look at it, a map is an overall good decision when it comes to decorating a room. It offers diversity, life and is a great focal and conversational piece. The different types of maps are also perfect because a map can be placed in any room whether it is a children’s room or a living room. Overall, maps are just a great decorative accent.
