Florida Folk Tales

One of the wonderful things about Florida is connected to its magnificent night life, where there is a world culture that’s currently under construction. New pieces of the puzzle get added every 24 hours, when guests from the luxury hotels Florida offers make their way to the dance floor. New musicians and djs work to define culture as it is, in order to make an impression on what it’s becoming.

This is part of what makes the state famous right now, and every present is built on a past. Some of the remnants of Florida’s past are connected to the Southern culture that is very much a part of the state. Sometimes this heritage gets lost in the urban shuffles, but when it works its way back to the surface, the connections between a dj in a nightclub and a storyteller at the base of a tree become rather clearly marked.

Stories of American Folklore can serve to represent the places in a metaphorical as well as geographical way. The tall tales and legends from Southern culture actually draw from a variety of sources, some from old Europe, some from parts of West Africa, and others that stem from indigenous tales right here. It is a kind of mixing, and perhaps it’s the first version of what people can hear in the clubs at night these days.
