Being a Foreigner in Delhi Can Get Expensive
Arriving in Delhi was a very memorable time during my whole trip. I was getting picked up by a driver that my hotel organized. I wasn’t the only one, so many with different name signs were waiting for the tourist to exit the airport terminal. There was plenty of confusion going around. I finally found my driver and got into the car, which had no seat belts. So, all we could do, as tourist, was enjoy the jostle and the crazy drive.
I was flying all over the backseat and bumping into all the other passengers. But, they too, were being jostled about. We were all laughing. I booked a room at a five star hotel Delhi offers to all its visitors and travelers. The hotel is located on a very busy street, at least during the daytime. It was my first time in India, so everything was a shock to me. Especially, just how busy the city really is and trying to find my way around was difficult. Rickshaws kept taking me to touristy places, places I never mentioned to them.
I booked a trip to Rajhastan and a stop at Varnanasi and Agra. My last few days will be spent in Kochin, then back to Delhi. But while here, in Delhi, I visited the Mahatma Gandhi museum and the National museum. The Gandhi museum was awesome, and it was so beautiful. There was a lot of information about his life. I recommend it, plus, it was free. The National museum has lots of art and sculptures, but it felt like it’s mainly for the tourists, which I am, and it was expensive if you wanted to take a camera inside.
Everything in India is more expensive if you’re a foreigner, I just had to get use to it.
