Where the Quest Begins

Airports, Vans and Madrid

My European adventure I’ll be blasting off to the beautiful city Madrid. At first I was supposed to be going to Barcelona, but my travel companion dropped out. Then one of the other girls and I decided to travel together to Madrid. It was very stressful trying to pull everything together. It did reveal to me that I’m totally good at planning. But, then I started to get nervous because of the whole language barrier thing. I do speak and understand Spanish well, I’m not fluent by any stretch of the imagination. I had to have a mommy-chat to get it together and to not worry about everything, as is my way. One of my biggest fears was that there wouldn’t be an equal dispensation of responsibilities between my travel buddy and I, which would have been so totally un-fun. Any who…it all got done and we just had to get there, which was very interesting.

So, Saturday morning, I got up like at 4:30am! We had to catch the 5:45am bus to the London Gatwick Airport. the bus ride was not bad, the funny thing is by the time we got to the airport, we like had 3 hours to spare. The Gatwick Airport is totally ridiculous and chaotic. Once we got on the plane, we were waiting forever to take off for ever it seemed. When the plane took off, my friend got sick. That was pretty embarrassing.

Once we got to Madrid, we had to walk around for a while trying to figure out where we could get a ride to the airport hotel where we were booked. It turned out that our hotel offered an airport van for all it’s guest. We managed to find it and hopped on board. My travelling buddy got sick again, all over the van floor. Pretty embarrassing and smelly. Luckily, she missed getting sick on the other passengers. Eventually, we laughed about it later, eventually.
