The group was founded by Naseeruddin Shah, an actor who has earned the respect of his peers from his lifetime of dedication to the work.  He began it over 30 years ago, with a production of Beckett’s Waiting for Godot, with only the intention of satisfying an immediate creative need to make something happen.  Three decades later, and it’s still happening, and more than twice.  Motley Theatre Group has an impressive list of productions and collaborators from over the years, and as they begin their festival this year, they’ll spend time looking backwards as well as forwards, to the benefit of the local and international theatre communities.
