Where the Quest Begins

Ibiza’s Expanding Tourism

The Balearic Island of Ibiza is well known not only for its beautiful beaches and fabulous scenic views, but also has gained an international reputation for its vibrant club and nightlife scene. The two main towns on the island are Ibiza Town and San Antonio, which also serve as the center of the island’s nightlife activities. Many of the restaurants and even the hotels Ibiza have their own club or lounge and serve as the perfect place for an early evening dinner and warm up, or an end of the evening nightcap.

Clubbing is not the only activity available on this Mediterranean island, and the leaders of Ibiza’s tourism industry actually have a strong focus on emphasizing the aspects of the island that are more cultural heritage, historical landmark, and geographic beauty oriented. This is part of the their plan to attract a more family orientated vacationer. This is by no means intended to reduce or downplay the great club scene on the island, they only want to stress that there is also much more that it has to offer. From the historic landmarks, such as the Monumento a los Corsarios and the Monumento al General Vara de Rey, to the various water sports available on or just off its numerous beaches, there is something on this island for everyone, it continues to attract a diverse population of tourists every year.

The Monumento a los Corsarios is located in the island’s harbor. It was established and constructed in the early 20th century to honor and remember the pirates that defended the island in the turbulent 18th century. Every year in August there is a major celebration in front of the monument’s tall obelisk and includes the San Salvador celebrations. The Monumento al General Vara de Rey is an extremely popular landmark and attraction for tourists. This statue is located in Ibiza Town.  More Spanish hotel information here
