Steven Barbarich, the philanthropist
The definition of a philanthropist is the effort or inclination to increase the well-being of humankind, as by charitable aid or donations. Love of humankind in general. Something, such as an activity or institution, intended to promote human welfare. And a person who does this is someone who is special in our society. To think, not just about you, but about others is a noble and worthy goal.
Steven Barbarich is one of these people. He is a multi-faceted individual that is part inventor, entrepreneur, businessman, author and philanthropist. The last one on the list is however, not the least just because it is last.
Barbarich started out with a degree in Engineering from Harney Mudd College. He then took that to start his own business where he represented, manufactured packing and did marketing for fellow investors.
His most current endeavor, choosehottubsdirect.com, he embarked on after having a poor customer service experience while he was renovating his home. He bought a bathtub for his home off of an internet site and found that when it was delivered it did not fit the specs that he had intended to put it in. So after that experience he decided to do something about it and start a business doing just that, providing customer service and excellent prices for hot tubs.
It’s that business that he decided would participate in his philanthropy efforts. After Hurricane Ike made landfall and it devastated the country, being the third most destructive hurricane in United States history, he decided to do something about it.
Barbarich donated a portion of hot tub sales to the relief fund. He will continue with his efforts of philanthropy in the future and has pledged to do so without discriminating against creed, color or religion.
And that is really a noble deed in the business world.
